I grew up in Northern California with a loving family who experienced suffering like all families do. After years of experimenting with drugs, I found myself locked in a jail cell at nineteen years old with multiple felony charges. Faced with a big decision, I chose to try to get sober. With the help of my family and friends, I have not used drugs or alcohol since.
During my teen years, I was introduced to the practices of mindfulness via the book The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh. The teachings interested me, but I struggled to incorporate them into everyday living.
Getting sober, I found a local meditation group and began taking my practice seriously. In the years since, I have had the chance to study with teachers like Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg, Kevin Griffin, Noah Levine, Thanissaro Bhikkhu, Tara Brach, and many others.
In 2015 I began to train at Spirit Rock Meditation Center to become a meditation teacher. Graduating from their training program in 2017, my wife and I opened a meditation center in Sonoma County. I have taught at local addiction treatment centers, county government offices, yoga studios, and online.
Today I live in Sonoma County with my wife, Elizabeth. An Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and mindfulness teacher, she and I work closely together to encourage, support, and nourish the deepening of practice. We have a dog, two cats, and four chickens.
Running One Mind Dharma, I make my living during the day with Mindful Marketing, a digital marketing company specializing in working with those who helps others. Our clients include dharma teachers, yoga studios, addiction treatment centers, therapists, and life coaches.
Passions and Hobbies
Although I spend my days working, I love to have fun. When I’m not working or teaching I may be found hiking around the beautiful area, rock climbing, playing the guitar or piano, or out taking photographs.
