I grew up in Northern California with a loving family who experienced suffering like all families do. After years of experimenting with drugs, I found myself locked in a jail cell at nineteen years old with multiple felony charges. Faced with a big decision, I chose to try to get sober. With the help of my family and friends, I have not used drugs or alcohol since.
During my teen years, I was introduced to the practices of mindfulness via the book The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh. The teachings interested me, but I struggled to incorporate them into everyday living.
Getting sober, I found a local meditation group and began taking my practice seriously. In the years since, I have had the chance to study with teachers like Jack Kornfield, Sharon Salzberg, Kevin Griffin, Noah Levine, Thanissaro Bhikkhu, Tara Brach, and many others.
In 2015 I began to train at Spirit Rock Meditation Center to become a meditation teacher. Graduating from their training program in 2017, my wife and I opened a meditation center in Sonoma County. I have taught at local addiction treatment centers, county government offices, yoga studios, and online.
I lived for a few years in Sonoma County with my wife, Elizabeth. An Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and mindfulness teacher, she and I worked closely together to encourage, support, and nourish the deepening of practice. We opened a meditation center that is now run by community members in Petaluma.
I still teach meditation online (Class.OneMindDharma.com), but Elizabeth and I moved to the town of Playa del Carmen, Mexico in 2018. Here we have laid our roots down and are hoping to stay. With our work online, we are able to live a little more comfortably here. It was my move to Mexico that really enabled me to dedicate more time to photography, meditation, and pursuing financial freedom.
Elizabeth continues to work as a psychotherapist, while I create income through a combination of forex trading and affiliate marketing. For the first time in our lives, we have achieved some financial freedom. We are not tied to one location, and are able to continue to work while we travel and see new places.
One of my favorite things to do is to connect with other people. Whether you want to investigate a mindfulness practice, talk photography, or learn about creating your own residual income, I’m here to chat! Just contact me via the button below.
